I’ve stumbled upon this excellent programme on Radio 3:

Mary Ann Kennedy introduces a specially recorded session by Al Andaluz Project, a collaboration between the Valencian folk collective L’Ham de Foc and the German early music specialists Estampie, exploring the common musical ground between the Muslim, Jewish and Christian cultures of medieval Spain.

There’s more about the band here with stuff to listen to.  Somehow or another, and despite Spain’s terrible history, this feels like music of the Camino

Andy, you’re a man after my own heart! Radio 4, Radio 3, world music … this clip was fab. Yes, it’s the Camino … and its exuberant Arabic strains make it so topical …

On a tangent, I’ve just been listening to the Mozambique Afro-pop band ‘Amoya’ – well worth a listen …

Although I love all kinds of music, perhaps folk music, roots music, world music, music of the people is my favourite music of all.

People power!
