The folks at Writing our Way Home have organised a challenge for January – to be attentive to the world by writing a small stone every day.  I’ve started this.  It is a good discipline and I am really looking forward to looking at what I have come up with at the end of the month, what connections might emerge between the stones (perhaps, hopefully, a path … ?).

Today’s small stone is:

The white hen

runs busily across the grass,

chases off a standing pigeon.

Full details of the challenge (which also comes with some very helpful resources) are here. A brief introduction here:

Mindful Writing Challenge Jan 2013 – join us?

Pay more attention and fall in love with the world.

Start 2013 by clearing space for beauty. Will you be joining our Mindful Writing Challenge this year?

The Everso Quick Version:

1. Notice something properly every day during January.
2. Write it down.

That’s it. You can stop reading now. Go out and buy yourself a gorgeous notebook, start writing your small stones, and you’ll be in the river. If you join half-way through January you can either write 31 daily small stones or stop at the end of the month.
