sorrow and anger

In a charity trustees meeting last night

the palpable sorrow and anger around the table

at the way that small reductions in benefits

have such an effect on poor working families.

The palpable sorrow and anger

at the shrinking of the social safety net

so that people must use foodbanks to eat

and ask the Church for crisis loans.

There is an excellent blog post by Niall Cooper of Church Action on Poverty here that gives background to the vastly increasing poverty in this country, the lies we are told by our politicians, and how Church leaders are beginning to counter this.  Please consider what you and your community can do.
