camino retreat – a question of perspective

Sometime – I can’t remember if it was on the day into Bruma or the next – we shared Ben Okri’s poem The World is Rich from his wonderful collection Wild.

You can hear him reading it here.

This helped us think about the way we look at things – in what ways was that soaking, exhausting struggle up the hill a gift?

Any journey, any following of Jesus, can be an opportunity to move closer to or further away from the heart of love.  They can be opportunities for good or for ill?  How can we tell if we are on the right track?

Okri gave us some important clues about this – compassion – real, active love of others is a key to this.

Found by Kathy at Teixedo.  Stone or heart?  What does it say about my heart?

It was such a gift to be able to think and pray and talk this through with a group of wonderfully deep and socially committed people.
